I would like help with 1: making sure I have removed iCloud from my phone, my PC, and Outlook and 2: figuring out how to make it work the way it did before iCloud. I have 900 contacts, and am scared to lose them all.

I feel sure I removed it from my PC because also when I compose an e-mail, and I try to click on the to or cc or bcc button, the first thing it tries to pull up is my iCloud contacts, and I have to click ok on two error messages before it will bring up the empty iCloud contacts, and from there I can click on Contacts and pull up the original Contacts. MAPI was unable to load the information service C:\PROGRA~2 and a bunch of other stuff. In Outlook, I see an iCloud ‘folder’ but when I click on it to try to expand it, I get an error message, something about this set of folders cannot be opened, an unexpected error has occurred. I’ve uninstalled the iCloud (to the best of my ability, it is no longer in my system tray). I want to go back to the way it was before I installed iCloud, and just connect the cable to the PC and the iPhone and synch. It warned me, but I didn’t believe it, and now I have NO contacts or calendar on my iPhone. My husband, who doesn’t use an iPhone or Outlook, said ‘can’t you just delete iCloud from your phone’ – so I went into the settings and told it to do just that. Not being able to look at my calendar on my iPhone and see where I am supposed to be and when is killing me.

I cannot get it to synch new items that I have typed into my calendar (however from all the time I’ve spent reading today, I have a feeling I was putting things in my ‘old’ outlook calendar, and not in the new one that iCloud created for me, as I never saw that on my Outlook screen on my PC). My outlook calendar has duplicated and triplicated my appointments and my reoccurring appointments and my tasks, be it the ones in the past or the ones in the future. I rely on my outlook!! Since the install, I went to the Apple store 3 times and have spent hours and hours trying to get it to work right. I upgraded to the IOS5 and the iCoud in October (I think it was) 2011. Of course, with the release of Windows 10, you might be more inclined to use OneDrive since it can sync data across virtually all mobile devices, including iOS and OS X. Now you’ll be able to sync data across your PC, Mac, iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch.

If you have a Mac, make sure to update to OS X Lion 10.7.2. Install the iCloud Control Panel for Windows. Update Safari for Windows and Mac to version 5.1.1. Install iOS 5 on your Apple mobile devices. There’s some work involved in setting it up to work seamlessly between your Apple devices and Windows.

To sync Safari Bookmarks and Reader Lists, you’ll need Safari 5.1.1 and above. To enable automatic downloads between devices and iTunes for Windows, you’ll need version 10.5. To sync your contacts and mail from Outlook, you’ll need 2007 or above. To sync IE bookmarks, you’ll need Internet Explorer 8 or higher. Launch it from there if you want to go in and select different syncing options.Īlternately, you can go to Start > Control Panel > iCloud. The iCloud Control Panel for Windows icon lives in your system tray. Click Merge.Īfter making your selections, click Apply. Here I chose Safari since I rarely use IE.Ī screen will come up asking if you’re sure you want to merge bookmarks with iCloud. There isn’t an option for Google Chrome or Firefox yet. In Bookmark Options, select either Internet Explorer or Safari. If you want to sync your bookmarks, click Options. Now select what you want to sync to iCloud and across your iOS devices. Follow the install wizard and when it’s done, make sure Open the iCloud Control Panel is checked. If you’re running Outlook during the install, you’ll receive a notification to close out of it before continuing with the installation. It only works with Windows Vista SP 2 and higher – Windows XP users are out of luck.
